Baeyer Villiger Oxidation/Rearrangement.

➠The transformation of ketones into esters and cyclic ketones into lactones or hydroxy esters by the peroxy acids is known as Baeyer Villiger Oxidation. 
Special features:-
➥It tolerates the presence of many functional groups in a molecule. For example, in alpha-beta unsaturated ketones, the oxidation with peroxy acids generally occurs at carbonyl carbon. 
➥The regioselectivity depends on the migratory aptitude of different alkyl groups. 
➥For unsymmetrical ketones, the approximate order of migratory aptitude is:-
      t-Bu > i-Pr > Ar > Et > Me
➠E.g./Mechanism:-
➠If the migrating group has an asymmetric center, then it will retain its chirality during the reaction.
